Pink Disease

Why is it called pink disease?

The disease is named because a pink to salmon-coloured fungal growth appears on branches and trunks of infected tree.

Causal Organism – Corticium salmonicolor

Symptoms-

1. Initially the disease seen on stem with pinkish powdery coating on it.
2. The plants may show dieback symptoms in younger branches and leaves fall prematurely.
3. Thin pink inclusions are seen more on the lower shaded side of the leaves.

Mode of Spread –

• Excessive Rain
• High Humidity
• Warm Temperature

Management-

Cultural Method	Chemical Control
Proper sanitation should be followed in orchard.Any infected portion should immediately be pruned, followed by pasting of copper oxychloride @ 1:1:10 at the cut ends.	Foliar Spray:Mancozeb 75% WP @2g/litre.Copper oxychloride 50% WP @3g/litre.
