What is leaf spot?

Leaf spots (Anthracnose) are categorized as discoloured, diseased area on a leaf that is caused by fungus.

Causal Organism – Colletotrichum gloeosporioides

Symptoms:

  1. The primary symptom appears as dark brick red spots on both the surface of leaves, which upon maturity become greyish, and studed with dark colour pin head spots.
  2. The leaves with such spots defoliate prematurely.

Mode of spread:

The fungus spreads through wind and overwinters on old leaves.

Management-

Cultural MethodChemical Control
Remove all infected leaves during pruning and dispose them away from orchard.Foliar Spray: Copper oxychloride @2g/litre.Mancozeb 75% WP @2g/litre.Thiophanate methyl 70% WP @2g/litre.
