What is grading?

To sort out the fruits according to shape, size, weight, maturity and quality is grading.

Why is grading important?

  • To maintain the uniformity and quality of the produces grading of VNR Bihi fruit is compulsory. The graded fruit fetches good market returns.
  • It enhances the keeping quality of the fruits because
  • The infected/detoriated fruits allow invasion of the infection on good quality fruits hence grading plays an important role in sorting out those fruits.
  • It also helps in grouping up the matured, ripe and over-ripe fruit.

How to do grading?

  • After harvest grading can be done according to health, appearance, colour, maturity/quality, weight/size of the fruit.

Point to remember:

  • Replacement of worn out foam net, and polybags are very important for good quality marketing.
  • The fresh materials helps retain the freshness of the produces for a long period of time.
